Mediation Services (Shared Neutral Alternative Dispute Resolution Program - SNAP)

Do any of your employees experience conflict?

Have you seen a rise in Equal Employment Opportunity cases?

Does workplace discord affect the quality of work being accomplished, the amount of sick leave being used, and the mood of the office?

All of these conditions occur in the workplace and can be mitigated by providing early mediation services.

The benefits of mediation are many. Managers can focus on their work rather than on preparing documentation, responding to requests for information, and being distracted by litigation. Resolving issues early reduces costs, provides the parties with increased understanding, and provides an opportunity for both sides to move forward expeditiously with more satisfactory results.

Skillfully trained mediators can help federal agencies avoid the cost of protracted legal proceedings, seriously damaged working relationships, reduced productivity, increased sick leave usage, high levels of stress, etc.

More on the Shared Neutrals ADR Program (SNAP) Planning Committee

As a formal committee of the Federal Executive Board, the Shared Neutrals ADR Program (SNAP) Committee makes an effort utilize Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods, specifically mediation, upon request from federal agencies. Members of this committee are appointed by the FEB and operate in accordance with applicable regulations and by-laws of the FEB. Responsibilities include review and supervision of the SNAP Mediator roster, SNAP case intake, data collection and analysis, SNAP outreach (making sure people understand the program is available), systems analysis (continually improving the structure of the Program), program development, mediator education, and quality assurance reviews.
