FEB COMMITTEES/COUNCILS

Work of the Federal Executive Board is carried out primarily through the following standing committees/ councils. Chairs of these committees/councils are elected or appointed by the FEB Chair. Selection of membership and organization of the committees/councils are at the discretion of the chairs. Size and composition of the committees/councils are influenced by the nature of the programs and the skills and expertise required accomplishing the objectives. Committee/council chairs are normally appointed or elected for one fiscal year term, but occasionally may be asked to serve longer.

COMMUNITY SERVICE COMMITTEE

The Community Service Committee is charged with the responsibility to enhance community outreach with the public-at-large by promoting volunteerism, civic engagement and providing a clearinghouse function to direct the Federal community to volunteer activities of member departments and agencies.

DIVERSITY ADVISORY COUNCIL

The Diversity Advisory Council’s mission is to support the Chicago Federal Executive Board (FEB) and its member agencies in their efforts to insure and enhance the consideration, value and visibility of diversity at all levels in federal employment, programs and service delivery.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS AND ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Emergency Preparedness and Advisory Committee promotes the development of emergency and COOP plans and enhances our Federal Partners’ overall emergency preparedness for a wide range of potential emergencies, both weather and non-weather related.

FEDERAL EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR

The Federal Employee of the Year Awards Program, hosted by an FEB member agency each year, has achieved a great deal of stature during its four decades of existence. Each year, a member agency volunteers to plan and coordinate this prestigious event that is generally held during Public Service Recognition Week and draws an attendance of nearly 1,400 people. The program recognizes hundreds of Federal employees in a total of eleven different categories. It is the most effective means of publicizing to the general population, as well as to the Federal family, the high caliber of devoted employees in the Federal service. LOCAL FEDERAL COORDINATING COMMITTEE

The Local Federal Coordinating Committee oversees the CFC campaign in each important phase. They select the Principal Campaign Funding Organization (PCFO) each year; review all applications from potential Non-Profit Organizations and eligibility of those applicants for placement into the CFC Donor Guide.

SHARED NEUTRALS ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION PROGRAM (SNAP) COMMITTEE

The Chicago Federal Executive Board (FEB) sponsors the Shared Neutrals ADR Program (SNAP) through the SNAP Committee, a formal committee of the FEB, in an effort to facilitate the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), specifically mediation, among federal agencies. Oversight for the Program lies with the SNAP Committee of the FEB.

The SNAP Committee is the governing body for the Shared Neutrals ADR Program. Members are appointed by the FEB and operate in accordance with applicable regulations and by-laws of the FEB. Responsibilities include review and supervision of the Roster, case intake, data collection and analysis, outreach (making sure people understand the program is available), systems analysis (continually improving the structure of the Program), program development, mediator education, and quality assurance reviews.
